Bezos Predicts Space Living for Millions in Coming Decades

Date:

Jeff Bezos has made an unexpected forecast regarding the future of humanity. As technology, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), evolves at a rapid pace, concerns have grown about its potential effects on Earth. People are questioning what life will look like in the coming years, especially as AI becomes more integrated into daily life.

Although AI is lauded for its remarkable potential, its rapid progress also brings unease. The company OpenAI, behind ChatGPT, has studied how AI might replace human jobs. Their research used the GDPval test to evaluate AI’s capabilities compared to human workers in various sectors. They identified 44 types of jobs most likely to disappear due to AI advancements.

Despite these concerns, Bezos remains optimistic about the future. He believes that we are on the brink of a new golden age for humanity. During his talk at Italian Tech Week, Bezos expressed that people should feel encouraged rather than disheartened by current developments.

Bezos predicts that space exploration will play a key role in humanity’s future. He foresees millions of people living in space within a few decades, a rapid shift he believes is inevitable. Most will choose to live in space, driven by personal desire rather than necessity.

The need for human workers in space will be minimal, according to Bezos. Instead, robots will handle most tasks, particularly those on the Moon or other celestial bodies. Sending robots is far more cost-effective than sending humans, making it the logical choice for space exploration.

Bezos also reassured the public about the benefits of AI, emphasizing that it can enhance life. He compared AI’s role in society to that of past inventions, like the plough, which led to greater prosperity. Bezos is confident that the pattern of invention driving civilization forward will continue, bringing even more abundance.

NASA shares this vision of expanding humanity’s reach into space. Their plan includes the development of “lunar glass” domes for people to live in on the Moon. This ambitious project, detailed in a report by The Telegraph, aims to use lunar regolith to create glass structures that astronauts can call home.

Skyeports, a California-based company, is leading the effort, with CEO Dr. Martin Bermudez at the helm. Bermudez hopes that these glass domes could one day form the backbone of lunar cities, possibly even connecting with other structures via glass spheres. He believes that while Earth can’t be replicated in space, these domes will offer a close alternative.

“Space has always fascinated me,” said Dr. Bermudez, whose architectural background fuels his passion for building on the Moon and Mars.
