Surgical Automations, a Dallas-based robotics company, has secured a remarkable $3.4 million in seed funding. The company is working on revolutionizing gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy with the help of robotics and artificial intelligence (AI). This funding will be used to accelerate the development of their advanced endoscopy platform.

The round was led by Dr. Fred Moll, the founder of Intuitive Surgical, and TurboStart, a venture firm based in Bengaluru. The oversubscription of this round reflects the growing investor interest in AI-driven surgical solutions. Surgical Automations aims to develop its flagship product, the Vāsuki Robotic System, which promises to transform endoscopic procedures through precision automation.

The Vāsuki Robotic System integrates AI-driven navigation with cutting-edge robotics to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of GI procedures, including colonoscopies. With the added benefit of advanced sensors, the system can automate crucial steps of the procedure. The goal is to make screenings safer and faster, ultimately reducing risks and improving outcomes for both patients and clinicians.

Surgical Automations’ focus is clear: to transform the field of gastrointestinal endoscopy through the combination of AI and robotics. The company’s vision includes providing gastroenterologists with improved control, visualization, and ultimately better patient outcomes during diagnostic and interventional procedures.

This funding round also saw support from various physicians and community organizations, including the Rajput Association of North America (RANA) and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Alumni Association of North Texas. The company’s ability to secure backing from such diverse sources signals strong confidence in the impact of its technology.

The company, founded in North Texas, is still in stealth mode, refining its robotic platform for clinical use. Surgical Automations’ ability to combine deep-tech innovation with local medical expertise could make it a significant player in the world of medical robotics.

The backing from leading investors and thought leaders highlights the potential for AI and robotics to transform healthcare. Dr. Fred Moll, in a statement, pointed to the shift in surgical robotics, noting the critical role that automation and intelligence will play in improving clinical care. Ganesh Raju of TurboStart expressed his belief in the company’s approach, particularly in addressing the limitations of colorectal cancer screenings. He praised the company for rethinking the process by combining AI, robotics, and regulatory clarity.

This funding also underscores the growing demand for advanced technology in the medical field, particularly in areas like endoscopy, where automation and AI are becoming increasingly necessary.
