Chinese engineers have unveiled a video showcasing a robot with fluid movements that might make you think it’s powered by artificial intelligence (AI). However, this creation is entirely real. The video, gaining rapid popularity on social media, introduces the latest from Unitree Robotics — the H2 “Destiny Awakening.” This humanoid robot stands 5 foot 11 inches tall and weighs 154 pounds, matching the size and weight of an average adult.
In the video, the bipedal H2 model performs various actions, from posing and pirouetting to executing intricate karate moves. It then confidently walks along an impromptu catwalk. The robot’s sleek, silver-grey appearance closely mirrors Sonny, the AI-driven character from the 2004 film I, Robot, a comparison that has not gone unnoticed online.
Details about the H2 are sparse, but Unitree’s YouTube captions describe the robot as a “bionic humanoid born to serve everyone safely and friendly.” While specific release information is not available, the company includes a disclaimer advising users against modifying the robot in dangerous ways.
This release follows the debut of Unitree’s G1 model in August 2024. A subsequent 2025 video demonstrated the G1 executing a complicated side flip. The G1 “Evolution V3.0” stands at 4 foot 3 inches tall, weighs 77 pounds, and includes advanced technology like lidar and depth cameras. It can reach speeds of 4.5 mph and features 23 degrees of movement freedom.
The H2, building on its predecessors’ design, includes improved features such as 360-degree depth sensing and a depth camera. Unitree also highlights the robot’s arm and leg torque capabilities, giving it fluid, precise movement and enabling it to perform tasks like lifting and navigating difficult terrain.
